A Welcome Letter from the Board of Directors.
Welcome Interested Families,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am very excited to have this opportunity to introduce you to the Cannon River STEM School (CRSS). We are a K-8 charter school with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Our school will provide a unique and rewarding public education experience for students, parents, and teachers by combining academic rigor with social responsibility and mastery of the process of scientific inquiry. CRSS is being developed by parents, scientists, engineers, and educators from the Cannon River Valley community. Their dedication to STEM education, combined with a hands-on outdoor learning environment, will bring the STEM concept to life.
Our mission is to foster each student’s innate curiosity and joy of discovery, and to address the growing need for improved science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education—locally, in Minnesota, and across the country. Through an interdisciplinary STEM curriculum, the purpose of the charter school will be to improve student learning, provide unique learning opportunities, and encourage the use of the most effective and innovative teaching methods. With its interdisciplinary emphasis on the environment as an integrating context, CRSS will engage its students with the world around them through an active involvement in the processes of scientific inquiry. Students attending CRSS will develop and carry out projects and experiments in a unique outdoor setting on the Cannon River, under the guidance of staff members and community volunteers who share a commitment to excellence in STEM education. Cannon River STEM School will provide a solid and rigorous academic program without sacrificing a sense of wonder.
We are eager to answer your questions about the school. Please feel free to contact us at info@cannonriverstemschool.org. We look forward to having you and your family join the growing CRSS community.
Sincerely,
Cannon River STEM School Board of Directors
