Goal Notebook

In the beginning of the year, we spend the first few weeks discussing and examining our hopes, dreams, and goals for the school year.  Each student will have unique goals and unique plans to reach those goals throughout the year.  As way to help reach our academic goals and to keep communication open, each fourth grader has a goal notebook.  The student’s individual goal is written on the inside cover of this notebook as a daily reminder.

Each morning the students will take a goal notebook note after they sign in for the day.  They will glue it into their goal notebook.  This note will always have the date, a message about the day or important updates, and the homework.  As a way to reach our academic goals, both student and parent should sign off on this note each night.  It is a good way to keep our goals in mind while staying organized for the year.  Go for the GOAL!

Author Blake Hoena will be visiting our school next week.  This is a great opportunity for the students to meet an author.  If you would like to order any of his books, please send in the order form with money by THIS FRIDAY, FEBURARY 24th!

Today students took part in a field study survey of the new MCA-III reading test.  Minnesota Department of Education is field testing this new assessment with different classes around the state.  We were chosen to try it out!  The students worked for an hour on the new test—which is now on the computer (as opposed to the booklet).  Students do not receive scores for this field test, but rather the state will be looking at the quality of the questions on the test to make modifications for the future.  This was just a trial run!  J

The homework tonight may look familiar!  This is a good practice of multi-digit multiplication and a good reminder about reading!  You may use a calculator to find the “Days of reading practice from K-12th grade” but you should be able to figure out the rest without a calculator.

…know more?

…have a better vocabulary?

…be more successful?
