Responsive Classroom

In our kindergarten classrooms we use the Responsive Classroom approach to guide and teach our students life skills, community building, and academics. We will be working with the kindergarteners each day on skills ranging from conflict resolution to making academic choices. We hope that the Responsive Classroom approach will enrich every kindergarteners year at school and build a positive classroom community!

Here is a look at what the kinders will be working on during the first six weeks of school:

basics of morning meeting to build community: greeting, sharing, activity, and morning message

learning logical consequences for actions and TAB (take a break) procedure

setting goals and hopes and dreams for the school year

learning the CARES (cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, self-control)
