Responsive Classroom

In our kindergarten classrooms we use the Responsive Classroom approach to guide and teach our students life skills, community building, and academics. We will be working with the kindergarteners each day on skills ranging from conflict resolution to making academic choices. We hope that the Responsive Classroom approach will enrich our kindergarteners year at school and build a positive classroom community!

Here is a look at what the kinders are working on this spring:

Practicing listening, questioning and discussing skills through sharing in morning meeting

Applying knowledge of the CARES and feelings to help friends when they have angry, sad, scared, or happy feelings or are in a conflict

We will also continue to conduct morning meetings, academic choices in our subtraction and measurment units and literacy centers, and work out problems through classroom problem solving meetings
