Welcome to the Cannon River STEM School Band!

Dear Middle School students,

Any 5th – 8th grade students interested in joining band should meet with Mr. Schafer as soon as possible to arrange an instrument trial.  ANY student is encouraged to join, and there are instruments available for rent at our school upon availability.

Any returning member to the Cannon River STEM School Band should have an Essential Elements book and personal instrument.  If you do not have a personal instrument, see Mr. Schafer about rental prices for Eastman Music in Faribault or The Music Mart in Mankato.  Rental instruments are available at our school as well upon availability.

For returning members, I ask that you continue practicing out of the Essential Elements book until whole group band begins, and I look forward to meeting with you again!

Suggested Listening

The Dallas Brass, Dallas Wind Symphony, and President’s Own Marine Band are three groups I suggest you listen to for three reasons: tone quality, section playing, and characteristic concert band style.  Enjoy!
