January 15, 2021

Dear CRSS Families,

As you know, next week we will begin phasing our youngest learners, starting with K-2, back into our school on Tuesday, January 19 for in person instruction. K-2 will be in school five days a week, Monday-Friday. On January 19 students in grades 6-8 will also resume learning in the AB Hybrid model. Then, on Tuesday, February 2, Grades 3-5 will return to in person learning five days a week, Monday-Friday. I have included these dates along with upcoming days when there is no school (school pivot days and staff workshop dates) on the calendar below.

Full-time distance learning remains an option for all students. If you would like your child to remain in distance learning, please let Margie Wesling in our school office know as soon as possible: [email protected] 507-331-7836, Ext. 2001. If your child remains in distance learning, they must do so for an entire quarter to help us maintain consistency for all students and teachers. The dates for 3rd quarter are February 2nd-April 9th.
We have been using this past week to ensure that all health measures are in place school-wide so that we will provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff. We will continue to provide you with regular updates.

Please have your younger children practice wearing a face mask so they become accustomed to it again as masks are required by all students and staff. Also, please let your child know that during recess, students will remain with their classroom in a designated areas outside.

Tier One Location Change: Starting Tuesday, January 19, childcare for Tier 1 employees will be relocated to the school cafeteria. We will be using the cafeteria ramp doors to enter and exit the cafeteria.

In closing, I want to say how grateful I am to all of our students, families and staff for your hard work and dedication during these challenging times. I wish you and your family good health and good spirits throughout the winter months. I feel confident that now that we are gradually able to return to school, we will do so with a greater sense of belonging, and a renewed perspective on all of the values that make Cannon River STEM School such a special place.

Sincerely,
Theresa Gunderson
Interim Executive Director
