Dear CRSS Families:

This week teachers have been taking advantage of the great weather. Some classrooms had lunch outside and there was more classroom time outside too! I am happy to say that fieldtrips have returned (since pre-COVID). Today, the first graders went to River Bend Nature Center. River Bend's mission is similar to our mission; to help people discover, enjoy, understand, and preserve the incredible natural world around us! On Wednesday, May 5 our fourth graders will explore River Bend Nature Center too.

Monday, May 3 is the start of Teacher Appreciation Week. Families, consider sending a letter or card to your child's teacher, letting them know how much you appreciate them. It will brighten their week for sure!

Here are 10 Reasons Why We Appreciate our CRSS Teachers:
1. They work tirelessly for our students.
2. They are an unending source of creativity.
3. The are experts at their subject.
4. They are passionate about what they do.
5. They believe in equality in education.
6. They prepare students for life beyond exams.
7. They inspire students by seeing the best in them.
8. They help awaken interest in new topics.
9. They make a difference in every single student's life, even when they don't realize it.
10. Our CRSS teachers are all-around incredible people!

Thank you CRSS teachers for making such a positive impact on our students!

Respect and Kindness In Every Classroom!
I have been visiting classrooms and talking to the students about being respectful, kind and caring with each other and with teachers and staff. Most talks open up into a class discussion which is very powerful! Today the fourth graders shared that we should treat others as we want to be treated. We should think before we speak, and we should stay in our chair, do our work, follow directions and be good listeners! I could not have summed it up better myself! Families, I encourage you to talk with your children about doing their best to follow these guidelines and to become positive a role-model for their peers! We want to finish this school year off on a very positive note! We appreciate your support at home. Thank you!

8th Graders and Families: SAVE THE DATE!
8th grade commencement is Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 6:00pm in the Cannon River STEM School picnic area. A formal invitation with details will come.

MCAs: (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments)
The MCAs are going very well. Next week the MCAs will conclude by having the 5th and 8th graders test in Science on 5/3 and 5/4 from 8:30-11:30am Please ensure your children get plenty of sleep so they are alert and prepared for taking the tests!

I hope everyone has a wonderfully WARM weekend! Enjoy the weather and see you next week!
